Pain Will Lead the Way: The High Stakes of Finding a Therapist

Your life is on the line.

You want to see a therapist who has experience, who will take you seriously, and who will know how to work with you to deal with difficult feelings and handle multiple conflicts simultaneously, if needed.

The longer I am in practice, the more I value the process of talking with someone in pain and seeing the ways that underlying thoughts and feelings can be a big component of the problem… and the solution.

Improve Your Life & Relationships

I like to work with people who want to improve their life and their relationships, who want to realize their potential to work and love creatively.

And many people say that to me in the first session.

After that, it is all about using our whole experience together to co-create a transformative experience. While this may sound a little woo-woo, it is entirely why I love what I do.

The Magic of the Work

And I love to work with people who want to know themselves. The magic comes when we work together with difficult, painful feelings, memories and mental defenses, yet somehow find a new way to experience them. That is what is creative.

You might come to me with your concerns at work and find that your worries are about getting help for yourself… the core self inside that speaks to you every day. Session after session, we will deepen our understanding of your symptoms and clear out the obstacles to your creativity, your dreams, your ambitions.

What do I have to offer?

I offer my experience of being in practice for 40 years, teaching at the University level for 25 years, and extensive post-degree training to become a psychoanalyst.

These experiences helped to fine-tune my career and make me well-suited to meet your challenges with knowledge and compassion.

I have accomplished what I set out to do on my personal and professional path.

My first goal was to leave home.

My second was to get a higher degree, which I settled on a Ph.D. in clinical psychology.

My third was to raise a family.

Fourth was to bicycle from Vienna to Prague with friends, a bucket list crossed off just recently.

At the University level, I was teaching young professionals how to begin psychotherapy.

Lastly, and probably most meaningfully, I became a psychoanalyst and then a Training and Supervising Analyst, which just means I am interested in training others who want to climb the personal and professional mountain of becoming a psychoanalyst.

Your goals and ambitions are my clinical focus.

It is my professional privilege to work in private practice with those who want to be understood as a whole person.

Young or older doesn’t matter; just someone who is ready to feel understood as an individual and to get down to the work of relieving your painful symptoms, gaining better control of your life, and opening up to innovative ways to cope more successfully in all aspects.
